The iSofter DVD to Zune converter is an excellent application to convert your DVD movies and videos into Zune-compatible files. A decent speed and a high level of customization will definitely make this application one of the chosen by those who are familiar with DVD ripping. However, if you are looking for amazing speed more than simplicity and great level of customization, there are better choices out there.
Feature Set (4.5/5)
The iSofter DVD to Zune converter is able to rip your DVDs and produce high quality media files that can be played by any Zune lover.
This application can take any kind of DVD disc as input and produce MPEG-4, WMV, WMA, AAC and MP3 files, amongst others. In fact, iSofter DVD to Zune converter can take advantage of installed external codecs to produce files in many other formats.
The user can highly customize the output files by choosing the resulting file size, the DVD segment to extract, the subtitles track to use, the audio track to rip and many other things.
As for speed, the iSofter DVD to Zune converter works fast, ripping DVDs in a very decent time. iSofter claims that the speed of their DVD to Zune converter is about 4x faster than others. However, we have found other programs that are able to perform the conversion with better speed and the same or comparable quality.
The application comes with built-in optimized profiles to quickly choose the target file type, a feature that will certainly save time when there’s no need to change advanced settings.
The iSofter DVD to Zune converter is heavily optimized for Intel’s Dual Core HT processors. It’s also optimized for processors that support SSE/SSE2/MMX and 3Dnow! Multimedia instructions.
The software makes good use of any present graphics acceleration video card, and also supports audio standards like Dolby and DTS Surround.
Ease Of Use (5/5)
The iSofter DVD to Zune converter is simple to use for anyone. Expert and power users will be delighted to tweak every aspect of the output file, including file size and quality. Beginners and users with little or no experience in DVD ripping will make intense use of the preset optimized profiles for their conversion needs.
Ease Of Installation And Setup (5/5)
Installing the iSofter DVD to Zune converter is a breeze. As any other standard windows installation, it’s concise and simple; the user is just required to click a couple of times: no surprises here.
It has been successfully installed at first try on every test computer with no need to shutdown the antivirus software (or any other app).
Quality Of Copy (5/5)
A very high quality (maybe the highest we have experienced while testing) can be achieved with the iSofter DVD to Zune converter if you play a little with some of the available settings. Even if you just use one of the presets the output quality is still pretty good for anyone.
Software Stability (5/5)
iSofter DVD to Zune converter has not shown any undesired interaction with other software, not even during the conversion process (although it is recommended not to run other applications while conversion is in progress, of course). It has proved to be stable and accurate, even under the minimum requirements.
Summary (4.9/5)
- High level of customization.
- Excellent quality.
- Optimized built-in profiles.
- Optimized for several types of processors.
- Good speed, but could be improved.

Hi, Can anyone tell me how to use the isofter program please? I am a complete beginner to any program like this.
I have video recordings from my DVR that is in a format that needs to converted to Windows Movie Maker
My first problem is that there is no information on the left hand side of the tool bar (if that is the correct name for it)
On the right hand side, I do have on the right hand side wmv. so in that regard, I appear to have the right hand side correct in order to convert the dvd or cd into WMV format, but the left side is blank and I cannot get any information in the boxes in order for the change of extensions to be formatted.
I would be extremely grateful for any help that you may be able to offer.
Best Regards
Mike
